Social Security Number Remediation
In Fall 2003 the University began to assess the use of SSN on campus in response to concerns raised by the Civil Service Council and other governance bodies about the University’s use of Social Security Number (SSN) as an identifier and the increased potential for identity theft, resulting in remediation of SSNs from university records and a revised policy effective June, 2005. One requirement of the policy is to list continued uses of SSN on this web site.
